HELP NEPAL Network (HeNN) would like to wish all its members and supporters a very Happy New Year 2066!

Header

We are very grateful for your continued support that has helped to build several schools, run health camps and support various other projects in the fields of health and education. HeNN has already completed over 40 projects related to health and education in different parts of Nepal and aspires to do more in the coming year.

Whilst HeNN continues to strive to reach out to its members through its Newsletters, we apologise for not being able to deliver on time.

Although our small team in Nepal work very hard to collate and share project information on a regular and timely basis, they are faced with many logistical challenges due to long hours of load shedding that have disrupted their day to day activities such as access to computer, email and internet during working hours.

HeNN received donation of $28,000

Header

HeNN has received a donation of US$28,000 from seven Nepalese living in various countries. The donations will go to the special Fund which is established to support the charity's administrative expenses.

Unlike a majority of charities, the Network has a policy of not using charitable donations for administrative purposes. It has built a separate Administrative Fund to bear its overheads by collecting donations of at least US$4,000 from generous Nepalese around the world.

Mugu Health Camp

Header

Help Nepal Network (HeNN) in collaboration with Health Care Nepal organised a four day health camp at the Help Nepal Health Post in Mugu district in October 2008.

More than 3,500 people from Mugu, Jumla and Humla districts visited the camp for medical check-up.
A team of medical doctors led by Jack Starmer, chairman of Health Care Nepal—a US-based charity— checked patients and provided free medicines. Other members of the medical team included Dr. Fredrick Basilico, a cardiologist and Dr Judith Waligunda, MD, Internal Medicine, New England Baptist Hospital, Boston. Both of them are faculty members of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Subarna Mani Acharya, Senior Cardiologist from Health Care Nepal (Nepal) and Erica Nakajima, an MD student, also checked patients.

Arun Singh Basnet, president of HeNN Nepal, led a team of volunteers at the camp. Help Nepal staff and 30 local volunteers worked day and night to manage the four-day camp (Oct 17-20). Nepal Police personnel had also been deployed to manage the crowd.

HeNN thanked the medical team and local communities for their support to make the camp a success.
Furthermore, a three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on Sanitation and Nutrition was also organised at the health post by Lata Ghimire, who is a health coordinator and an executive board member of HeNN Nepal. A total of 95 health workers took part in the ToT.

HeNN had constructed the Health Post in Murma village of Mugu to provide basic health services to people living in remote areas.

We have received lots of positive feedback from the local community and they appreciate the vast improvement in their local health clinic.
