HELP NEPAL Network has embarked on yet another journey to promote the art of giving and to assist those in need of health and education in rural Nepal. Rabindra Mishra, a founder member of HeNN and a BBC World Service journalist by profession, has just begun a campaign called ‘Kripya, Paanch Rupainyan Dinos Na!’ (Please, give me five rupees) through a column in Kantipur daily to institutionalise HELP NEPAL Network so that it could continue with its mission. The appeal has received a tremendously positive response right from President Dr Ram Baran Yadav to ordinary villagers across the country. Several comments have been published in Kantipur itself in support of the campaign.

HELP NEPAL Network hopes to receive support from its well-wishers in this unique initiative to promote philanthropy in Nepal through the help of Nepalis!

Mugu Health Camp

Header

The HeNN health camp in Mugu is a permanent set up located in a remote and underprivileged region in Far Western Nepal. Presently, there are two technical staffs who have been providing medical assistance to the local community as well as people who come from nearby villages.

This summer, they facilitated an outreach clinic service and vaccination programme to promote general health awareness. The clinic was very successful and saw an influx of patients from different regions. The health assistants also made observations that the local people, especially students and the youth, were generally more aware of sanitation and nutrition factors affecting their day to day lives. This was mainly as a result of the TOT campaign conducted in October 2008.

The region also suffered from an outbreak of diarrhoea in May 2009. HeNN health post conducted a one day camp in Pina Village Development Committee (VDC), distributed free medicines and treated patients ailing from severe diarrhoea.
